Having her own piece of history has always been an inspiration for Kimberly Favazzo Patrum, owner of VAZZO Creative. The desire to take something from history and bring it back to life has always fascinated her, and Downtown Joplin seemed like the best place to make this dream a reality. Fortunately, in March of 2017, Kimberly was finally able to work towards this dream when she purchased the new home of VAZZO Creative at 512 S. Joplin, in the historic district of downtown Joplin.
This remarkable building in the old bar district has served many significant roles in the past starting out first as a bar, then a print shop, and finally as a stainless glass shop, after which it sat vacant until now. With a historic, industrial, and modern design aesthetic in mind, the building is now going through renovations to return it to its former glory. Adding an original date stamp to the outside is at the top of the list for Patrum’s ideal re-creation of this historic location. In addition, while she has also started renovations to expose and reseal the brick and to create a more functional use of the warehouse space, she has several more exciting plans to restore and revamp the space. From the history, to the innovation, to the modern design, there is no doubt that the future home of VAZZO Creative will embody the persona of everything they are trying to achieve in original and forward-thinking planning and design.
